5 Ways to Earn Allah’s Love
Every believer longs for the love of Allah. It is the greatest honor and the ultimate source of peace, guidance, and success in both this life and the Hereafter. When Allah loves a servant, He places barakah in their life, guides their heart, and grants them closeness to Him.
Earning Allah’s love is not limited to extraordinary acts — it is built through sincerity, consistency, and a heart that seeks Him.
“Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 195)
Here are five ways to earn the love of Allah.
1. Follow the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
One of the clearest ways to attain Allah’s love is by following the example of the Prophet ﷺ.
“Say, [O Muhammad], ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins…’”
(Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 31)
The more we align our actions, character, and habits with the Sunnah, the closer we come to Allah’s love.
This includes:
- Practicing good character
- Following daily Sunnah habits
- Living with humility and kindness
Following the Prophet ﷺ is the path to earning Allah’s love.
2. Perform Obligations Consistently
The most beloved actions to Allah are the obligatory acts of worship.
This includes:
- The five daily prayers
- Fasting رمضان
- Giving zakah
- Fulfilling responsibilities
A believer who is consistent in their obligations builds a strong foundation of faith.
Only after fulfilling these duties can we truly grow in our closeness to Allah.
3. Go Beyond with Voluntary Acts
After fulfilling obligations, voluntary acts (nafl) bring a person even closer to Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ conveyed that Allah says:
“My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary deeds until I love him…”
These acts include:
- Extra prayers (Tahajjud, Sunnah prayers)
- Additional fasting
- Charity
- Extra dhikr
These small, consistent efforts strengthen the bond between the servant and Allah.
4. Show Kindness and Good Character
Allah loves those who treat others with kindness, patience, and respect.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The best among you are those who have the best character.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
Good character includes:
- Being gentle in speech
- Forgiving others
- Helping those in need
- Showing patience in difficult situations
Our interactions with people reflect our relationship with Allah.
5. Repent and Turn Back to Allah Often
No one is perfect, but Allah loves those who constantly return to Him.
“Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent…”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 222)
Seeking forgiveness (istighfar) purifies the heart and strengthens faith.
Turning back to Allah after mistakes shows humility and sincerity.
The more we return to Allah, the closer we become to His love.
Final Reflection
Earning Allah’s love is a journey that requires sincerity, effort, and consistency. It is not about perfection, but about striving to live a life that pleases Him.
By following the Sunnah, fulfilling our obligations, increasing voluntary acts, maintaining good character, and constantly repenting, we can draw closer to Allah.
The greatest success is not in this world, but in being loved by Allah.
May Allah grant us His love, guide our hearts, and make us among those who are closest to Him. 🤲✨
