5 Sunnahs That Bring Barakah
In Islam, every Muslim hopes to live a life filled with barakah (blessings). Barakah is not only about having more wealth or possessions, but about experiencing goodness and benefit in everything we have — our time, our health, our families, and our actions.
The beautiful example of the Prophet ﷺ shows us that even the simplest daily practices can bring immense blessings into our lives. By following the Sunnah, we not only earn reward but also invite barakah into our everyday routines.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And whatever the Messenger has given you – take; and what he has forbidden you – refrain from.”
(Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 7)
Here are five Sunnahs that can bring barakah into your daily life.
1. Starting Actions with “Bismillah”
One of the easiest Sunnahs to follow is beginning our actions with “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah). The Prophet ﷺ encouraged Muslims to say it before eating, drinking, entering the home, or starting any important task.
Beginning with Bismillah reminds us that every blessing comes from Allah and places our actions under His protection.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When one of you eats, let him mention the name of Allah.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This simple phrase transforms ordinary activities into acts of worship.
2. Eating with the Right Hand
The Prophet ﷺ taught Muslims to eat and drink using the right hand. This practice is a sign of respect, cleanliness, and obedience to the Sunnah.
He said:
“When one of you eats, let him eat with his right hand, and when he drinks, let him drink with his right hand.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Following this Sunnah in daily life is a simple way to earn reward and bring barakah into everyday habits.
3. Eating Together
Sharing meals with family and friends is another Sunnah that brings blessings. Islam encourages unity and companionship, and eating together strengthens relationships while increasing barakah in the food.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Eat together and do not eat separately, for the blessing is in being together.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah)
Even simple meals can become more meaningful when shared with others.
4. Waking Up Early
The early hours of the day are filled with blessings. The Prophet ﷺ made a special supplication for his community regarding the mornings.
He said:
“O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.”
(Sunan Abu Dawud)
Waking up early allows a Muslim to begin the day with prayer, remembrance of Allah, and productive activities. Many people find that their time becomes more fruitful when they start their day early.
5. Giving Charity Regularly
Charity (sadaqah) is one of the greatest sources of barakah in both wealth and life. Although giving may seem like losing something, Islam teaches that charity actually increases blessings.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Helping those in need, supporting good causes, or even offering small acts of kindness can bring immense reward and blessings.
Final Reflection
The beauty of the Sunnah lies in its simplicity. Many of the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings involve small actions that are easy to practice but carry great reward and barakah.
By starting our actions with Bismillah, following the etiquettes of eating, sharing meals, waking up early, and giving charity, we invite blessings into our daily lives.
When we strive to follow the Sunnah, we not only strengthen our faith but also bring goodness and peace into our homes and hearts.
May Allah guide us to follow the beautiful example of the Prophet ﷺ and fill our lives with barakah. 🤲✨
