5 Duas for Difficult Times
Life is filled with moments of ease and moments of hardship. At times, we may feel overwhelmed by challenges, uncertainty, or emotional pain. In such moments, one of the greatest sources of comfort for a believer is turning to Allah through du’a.
Du’a is not just a request — it is a connection, a reminder that we are never alone and that Allah is always near, listening and responding in the best way.
“And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me…”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 186)
Here are five powerful du’as to recite during difficult times.
1. Du’a for Ease in Hardship
“Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja‘altahu sahla, wa anta taj‘alu al-hazna idha shi’ta sahla.”
(O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy, and You make difficulty easy if You will.)
This du’a reminds us that ease comes only from Allah. No matter how complicated a situation seems, Allah has the power to make it simple.
Reciting this with sincerity brings hope and reduces anxiety.
2. Du’a of Prophet Yunus (AS)
“La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.”
(There is no deity except You; You are perfect. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.)
This du’a was made by Prophet Yunus (AS) while he was in the darkness of the whale.
Allah responded to his call and relieved him from his distress.
This teaches us that no matter how deep our hardship is, turning to Allah with humility brings relief.
3. Du’a for Relief from Anxiety and Sadness
“Allahumma inni a‘udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan…”
(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow…)
The Prophet ﷺ used to recite this du’a to seek protection from emotional burdens.
It is especially helpful during times of stress, worry, or sadness.
By reciting it regularly, we place our emotional struggles in Allah’s care.
4. Du’a for Strength and Reliance
“Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa, ‘alayhi tawakkaltu…”
(Allah is sufficient for me; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely…)
This du’a strengthens tawakkul (trust in Allah).
When we feel helpless or uncertain, this reminder brings calmness and reassurance.
It shifts our focus from our problems to the One who controls everything.
5. Du’a for Patience
“Rabbana afrigh ‘alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana…”
(Our Lord, pour upon us patience and make our feet firm…)
This du’a asks Allah for strength and patience during trials.
Patience is one of the most important qualities during hardship, and this supplication helps us develop it.
Final Reflection
Difficult times are a part of life, but they are also opportunities to turn back to Allah and strengthen our faith.
Through du’a, we find comfort, hope, and reassurance that Allah is always near.
Each of these du’as carries a deep meaning — reminding us of Allah’s power, mercy, and wisdom.
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”
(Surah Ash-Sharh, Verse 6)
No matter how heavy your situation feels, know that relief is always possible with Allah.
May Allah ease all our difficulties, grant us patience, and accept our du’as in every situation. 🤲✨
